At Travel Melodies, we believe privacy policies shouldn’t read like they were written by a robot wearing a suit. So here’s the deal, plain and simple.

When you visit our little corner of the internet, we want you to feel safe, seen, and respected, whether you’re here for cultural travel inspiration, family adventures, or just browsing because wanderlust won’t let you sleep.

What We Collect (and Why)

Comments

If you leave a comment (yay, we love those!), we collect what you type into the form, plus your IP address and browser details. It helps us fight spam and trolls.

Your email may also quietly chat with Gravatar to see if you’re rocking a profile pic. You can read how Gravatar handles things here. Once your comment is approved, your pic shows up next to it. That’s how the internet works.

Media

Uploading images? Cool. Just make sure you’re not accidentally sharing your GPS location through photo data. Other visitors can sometimes extract that info.

Contact Forms

When you reach out to say hi, ask a question, or tell us how a destination stole your heart, we collect whatever you write in that form. It’s how conversations happen.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email, and website in a cookie. Handy for next time! These last about a year, unless you clear them sooner.

If you log in (if applicable), we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser even likes cookies. That one disappears when you close the browser. Login cookies last for two days. Screen options last a year. Click “Remember Me,” and the login sticks for two weeks. If you log out, poof, cookies gone.

If you edit or publish something, a cookie saves the post ID. Techy stuff. It goes away after a day.

Advertising (Because Flights and Hosting Aren’t Free)

How Long We Keep Your Info

Comments and their details? We keep them forever (or until the blog implodes). That way, your insightful thoughts don’t vanish.

If you create an account (rare, but possible), we keep your profile info. You can view, edit, or delete it anytime (except your username, that’s locked in). We admins can see and edit it too.

Your Rights

If you’ve left a comment or created an account, you can ask us for a file of the personal data we have on you. Or you can ask us to erase it. This doesn’t include any data we’re legally required to keep. Gotta keep things tidy with the authorities.

Where Your Data Goes

Comments may run through spam detection tools. Otherwise, your data hangs out safely with us.
