Hoi An doesn’t have an airport of its own. The nearest airport is Da Nang and it takes around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the traffic from Da Nang International Airport to Hoi An. The transportation options available to travel from Da Nang to Hoi An include a public bus, taxi, Hoi An Express Airport Shuttle Bus, and a private transfer.
There are buses as well as trains from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Hoi An, yet, flights remain the best option as it saves a lot of time and hassle.
Getting Around Hoi An
When it comes to getting around Hoi An, I highly recommend considering riding a bike as a convenient and enjoyable option.
Hoi An is a compact city with narrow streets, making biking an ideal way to navigate the various attractions and explore its charming neighborhoods.
You can easily rent a bicycle from numerous shops and hotels (look for the hotels that offer free bikes), allowing you to travel at your own pace while immersing yourself in the local atmosphere.
However, it’s important to note that driving in Vietnam, especially in busy cities like Hoi An, can be quite chaotic. The traffic can be intense, with a mix of motorbikes, cars, and pedestrians vying for space on the roads.
If you decide to rent a bike or scooter, it’s crucial to exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Before setting out on a two-wheeled adventure, make sure you are comfortable with riding in traffic and familiarize yourself with local traffic rules.
If you prefer not to ride a bike, there are other transportation options available in Hoi An.

If you are visiting Hoi An for the first time, it’s recommended to stay in the Old Town. As a beach lover, you might want to stay by the beach.
