The labyrinth of backwaters, rows of coconut trees, emerald green lands, rich culture, and scrumptious cuisine will make you fall in love with this God’s favorite land.
Spring is one of the best times to visit Kerala before it starts to get hot and humid.
There are some experiences in Kerala that can only be explored here and are not to be missed.
The Indian classical dance Kathakali (native to Kerala), a houseboat stay in the backwaters, the world’s richest temple, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Trivandrum, Magic Planet, and Munroe Island.

Seeing the cherry blossoms (hanami in Japanese) in Tokyo is a unique experience. While the cherry blossom season is relatively short at 2-3 weeks from late March to April, the sidewalks and parks brighten with pink petals.
Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Meguro River are two recommended places to see a high concentration of cherry blossom trees.
Along the Meguro River, there is a large cherry blossom festival with vendors selling street food and drinks.
Tokyo has plenty of family-friendly theme parks and museums to enjoy. Head to Disneyland to meet Disney characters, Sanrio Puroland to meet Hello Kitty, Gudetama, and friends, or Legoland Discovery Center to see mini Lego exhibits.
Visit the Ghibli Museum for fans of Studio Ghibli films such as Spirited Away and Totoro. Or explore Team Borderless, the iconic exhibit using lights, sound, and digital art.
There is no shortage of food to try. If you want to eat sushi at an affordable price, head to Sushi-Ro. It’s a sushi chain restaurant where the sushi arrives on a conveyor belt.
You can pick up plates of sushi along the belt or order directly from the tablet. Each of the colored plates costs 100-500 yen ($1-$5 USD).
One recommended place to stay is Westin Tokyo. The hotel rooms in Tokyo are known to be smaller, yet the ones here are large and comfortable. Plus, the hotel is less than an 8-minute walk from the nearest train station.
3. Nagoya, Japan

Spring is the perfect time to visit Japan. It’s not too hot or too cold. It is also a popular time because of the amazingly beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom for only a short time.
Nagoya, in particular, is a great place for families to visit in spring. Japan’s fourth-largest city sees fewer tourists than its bigger brothers, Tokyo and Osaka, which makes it much more comfortable to travel around with small children and big suitcases.
Especially fun attractions for the whole family are Legoland Japan, which has amazing Lego models of famous sights from all across the country, and the SCMaglev Railpark, where you can learn about Japanese trains and even try out a train simulator where your kids can drive different trains.
If you do manage to visit during cherry blossom season in spring, have a picnic under the cherry trees at Tsurumai Park, and don’t forget a visit to Nagoya Castle, a beautiful reconstruction of one of Japan’s most impressive palaces.
Nagoya has some delicious local foods not to be missed. Try Miso Katsu, a deep-fried pork cutlet with a rich and dark-brown sauce made from fermented soybeans, or have some Ankake Spaghetti, a pasta dish with a sticky vegetable-based sauce topped with vegetables and ham. Your kids will love it.
The best place to stay in Nagoya is around Nagoya Station, which can be booked from here. However, most hotels in Nagoya do not offer family rooms.
If two twin rooms are good enough for you, check out Meitetsu Inn Nagoya Ekimae. It is in a convenient location and offers a great price.
4. Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a great option for a spring break destination. The weather is perfect in the spring.
You’ll love how budget-friendly Hong Kong is! Public transportation is easy to navigate and can take you everywhere. Even being native English speakers, it isn’t difficult to find what you need.
Like any large city, the possibilities for things to do are endless, but you won’t want to miss a few select activities.
Near the airport on Lantau Island, ride a crystal cable car across the bay and up the mountain to the Big Buddha, Tian Tan. Then, wander through the Ngong Ping temple and village.
In the heart of Hong Kong Island, explore the Mid-level Escalators.
Stop at the peaceful Cheung Kong Park. Then, ride the tram straight up the mountain to see the view from Victoria Peak.
Be sure to experience the botanical garden and conservatory (all free) at Hong Kong Park- all for free! The quadruple-level playground here will be the favorite of all the kids.
Take the cost-effective Star Ferry across the bay to view the Kowloon Railway Clock Tower and Fountain.
Walk along the boardwalk of the Avenue of Stars. Be sure to be in this area around 8 pm when you’ll be able to watch the skyscrapers put on a light and listen to a music show called Symphony of Lights nightly.
Head to the Sha Tin area to hike among the 10,000 golden Buddhas to a temple on the hill.
If shopping (or even looking) suits your fancy, don’t miss wandering the streets, which are lined with markets galore! You’ll find a Flower Market, a Goldfish Market, a Bird Market, and a Women’s Market.
If theme parks are what the kids need, there are several options, such as a zoo/ride park at Ocean Park. Or the ever-famous Disneyland – Hong Kong.
Everyone in the family will love spending time in Hong Kong. There’s food, fun, history, and culture around every skyscraper.
Some great options to stay at are the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental, or the Grand Hyatt.
5. Bali, Indonesia

Bali is the perfect spring break destination. In April, the island’s dry season starts, and there is plenty of sunshine and a calmer sea, perfect for water sports and snorkeling.
Bali is great to travel with the family. It is budget-friendly, has plenty of choices for family-style hotels, and is easy to move around with a hired driver.
Bali is a very diverse island with so much to see and do.
It is a surfer’s paradise with world-class surfing spots, and it is also home to some excellent surf schools, where even absolute beginners of any age can get a taste of this beautiful sport.
Other water sports that can be enjoyed in Bali include kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and parasailing.
Apart from beaches, Bali has a rich and beautiful culture. To explore it, head to Ubud, its cultural hub.
Shop the beautiful, hand-made crafts in Ubud Market and visit some of the most beautiful rice paddies just outside of the town.
Remember to see a few temples—Bali has a lot of them. Head to Uluwatu Temple and watch the magical traditional Balinese dance show, Kecak.
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is another gem in Bali. And if you love waterfalls, you’ll be in for a treat; Bali has plenty of them!
A great, family-friendly area to stay with your loved ones is Nusa Dua.
It has a more chilled vibe and some excellent hotels, and the sea at Nusa Dua Beaches is much calmer and more suitable for children.
I recommend staying at budget-friendly Novotel, which is conveniently located in all main Nusa Dua attractions.

6. Kathmandu, Nepal

Are you up for an adventure this spring break? Why not head to Kathmandu?
This ancient city has so much to offer everyone, from families to couples to solos. Kids can learn all about the ancient temples, visit the monkeys, and snack on MoMo all day long, while adults can experience 5-star hotels and romantic restaurants at small prices.
When heading to Kathmandu, you should not miss the Monkey Temple. Swayambhunath not only offers a great panoramic view over the city, but it also houses numerous monkeys who play around the shrines and stupa.
Additionally, you can visit Pashupurinath, which also has a large group of monkeys living in the forest.
Don’t forget to visit Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Square and roam through the medieval streets to discover hidden temples and ancient shrines. If you are into hiking and trekking, you can easily squeeze in a little trek through the Himalayas!
Nepal is famous for its Momos, little Tibetan Dumplings that are often filled with meat, cheese, or vegetables.
You can also eat as much Dal Bhat as your heart desires – Dal Bhat literally means lentils with rice and comes with nice curries and achaar (pickles).
Food in Nepal is very cheap, with even expensive fine-dining restaurants charging less than $10 for the main course.
I recommend dining at La Casita near Boudha Stupa at sunset. Get up to the roof terrace for breathtaking views. Also, don’t miss out on The Garden of Dreams, which is not only a beautiful setting but also has amazing food and cocktails.
The little ones will probably want to eat MoMo all the time, and it can be ordered at almost every restaurant.
Hotel Roadhouse is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Thamel.
If you would rather not stay in Thamel, which can be a bit loud and busy during the high season, I would recommend staying in Vivanta.
Vivanta is a luxury hotel in Lalitpur, just south of the Bagmati River. Lalitpur is known as an affluent area with lots of ex-pats where nothing stays open later than 10 PM!
7. Malaysia, Asia

Malaysia is the perfect place to visit for spring break, especially if you want to defrost fully during winter.
This Asian destination is close to the equator and hot and humid year-round.
Spring break is a great time to visit as the monsoon period is generally over on the eastern side of the country and has not yet begun on the west, so you can visit most places and have good weather.
Malaysia has many great places to visit for families. Start your adventure in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. KLCC Park is the first place to head where you can journey up the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, the highest in the world.
The park is home to a massive playground and water play areas and has a science museum and an aquarium around its borders.
After your city time, head down to Johor Bahru for Legoland Malaysia. This big theme park is awesome for Lego and theme park fans and is rarely busy.
Next up, travel to Sandakan in Borneo to visit orangutans and sun bears in their natural habitats.
Finally, head to one of Malaysia’s beautiful tropical islands to finish your adventure with some serious beach time.
Choose between Langkawi for big resorts and many attractions or the Perhentian Islands to feel like you’ve got away from it all.
The Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur is a great place to stay. It has apartment-style rooms in a great location above a vast shopping center, complete with an indoor theme park.
When you need to cool down, make sure you try an ais kacang during your trip.
This shaved ice dessert has an assortment of ingredients added, from beans to corn to coconut milk, which can sound strange but taste delicious.
8. Singapore, Asia
Singapore is one of the most family-friendly countries in the world. There are tons of child-friendly things to do and places to visit in Singapore that kids remain in awe of. And Singapore becomes all the more fun when you visit during spring.
Singapore has two seasons: Dry (March-August) and Wet (September to February). Spring is the time when Singapore receives more sunshine than rain.
From Singapore Zoo to Jurong Bird Park to Gardens By the Bay to Universal Studios to S.E.A. Aquarium to its Cultural Quarters to gorgeous beaches – Singapore is a rollercoaster ride for families. It’s one destination you can’t skip if you’ve kids.

The best place to witness the beauty of the season is the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden (previously known as Siraj Bagh Cheshmashahi) in Srinagar.
It’s the largest tulip garden in Asia, and when tulips bloom, the garden showcases a riot of colors.
The tulip garden, aglow with the sea of vibrant tulips with a view of the snow-capped Zabarwan range of the Himalayas overlooking the Dal Lake, the iconic landmark of Srinagar, is a sight to behold. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, of course!

The one thing you shouldn’t miss is the desert safari, which offers all kinds of options, such as dune bashing, camel rides, sandboarding, watching the sunset, and barbecue dinners.
It is an experience like no other. Book the desert safari tour for the adventure of a lifetime.
Don’t miss Dubai Mall, which has its own aquarium and underwater zoo. When you leave, go on a speedboat sightseeing tour to explore Dubai’s gorgeous water.

If your kids love the outdoors and want to have exciting and rewarding travel experiences, take them to Jordan.
The best time to absolutely enjoy the sun, sand, and rocks of Jordan is spring, when it’s not too hot and not too cold—or rather, when it’s perfect weather.
From the capital city of Amman to the Lost City of Petra to the famous desert reserve of Wadi Rum to the coast city of Aqaba to the Greco-Roman walled town of Jerash to Asia’s salt lake of the Dead Sea to a seawater inlet of the Red Sea to a historical drive on Kings Highway, Jordan unclothes a mystery at every step.
